Osteopathy facilitates the body's innate intelligent power to heal
Traditional Biodynamic Osteopathy is a gentle approach to osteopathic medicine that recognizes the person as an integrated whole. Through quiet, perceptive touch, the osteopath listens for health within the patient and follows the body's inherent organizing processes. Treatment is guided by the individual and by the body's own priorities, rather than by an effort to mechanically correct alignment or structure.
Every person possesses an innate ability to heal, maintain balance and recover from illness. Injury, stress, poor nutrition, chronic disease, emotional strain, and the natural effects of aging can interfere with these self-regulating mechanisms. Osteopathic evaluation seeks to identify these obstacles and restore the conditions that allow the body to function at its highest potential.
Treatment begins with careful listening, a comprehensive evaluation, and an understanding of each person's unique history and goals. Depending upon the individual's needs, care may include quiet, gentle osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT), also known as osteopathic manual medicine (OMM), lifestyle counseling, nutritional guidance, conventional medical care, or appropriate diagnostic testing. OMT (OMM) uses skilled, gentle, quiet, relaxing hands-on techniques to improve mobility, reduce pain, optimize circulation, support nervous system function, and enhance the body's natural healing processes.
The goal of osteopathic medicine is not simply to relieve symptoms but also to restore function, improve resilience, and promote lasting health. By treating the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—our goal is to help each patient experience greater comfort, vitality, and an increased overall sense of well-being.
